HOT HEAD quotes:
"5+ stars… Desert Island Keeper...
Hot
Head is a book you will want to savour...a plot
that grips you and makes your stomach ache... an
unforgettable story... gritty... raw... delicious... I
felt as if I was living this story rather than reading it. The
city was alive and the atmosphere sparkled underneath the mosaic
that made up the Big Apple… Hot Head is more
than a romance… Everything in the book is on a grand
scale with no apologies. Entertaining, vibrant and
original, the writing is fresh, the protagonists kick
butt, and oh! Before I forget, the sex is off the chart.
Hot Head kept me on the brink and will stay
with me for a long time. Highly recommended."
(reviews
at jessewave)
"Up front, this is one of the best M/M romances I have read lately... The story is simple but hot as hell, the sex is so good I probably for the first time in a long, long period, read it all instead of “mentally” skimming it... It had that level of romanticism that makes your heart ache good... What I really loved of this novel is that both Griffin and Dante are men in one piece, there are no half measures, either you totally love or you don’t love, and when they make a decision, their love is full and complete, without exceptions. I strongly recommend this novel to all romance lovers, I’m sure you will love it as much as I did." (Elisa’s Reviews and Ramblings)
“Awarded the Golden Nib: for books that knock our socks off!
I
had high hopes going into this read… and I was not disappointed.
It's magical and
beautiful even when it gets down and dirty and completely
gutter-talk raunchy. Or maybe especially then, because that's
who these guys are. Not
only is there hot sex, but it is hot, emotional sex, just
what we female readers love, and I'd dare say one or two guys
reading this story will put it on their one-hand-read shelf. I
rate the first kiss in this book as the hottest,
sweetest, best first kisses I've ever had the pleasure to read…
The one thing this book has that no other does is Mr. Damon
Suede and his unique and
authentic voice… I will definitely recommend this read as
a raw, emotional, very
hot, worth-every-penny read. I've re-read it three times
now, and reading it over so close together, it should get old,
but it hasn't. That's Golden Nib worthy!"
(Miss
Love Loves Books)
"Five
stars! This is not just a love story,
but the author also observes tough topics like gay bashing and
New York fire fighters experiences from 9/11. I loved so many
quotes from this book; Mr. Suede has such an ability to paint a picture. I thoroughly
enjoyed this novel; the
storyline was compelling, the sex scenes hot and emotionally
driven. But, what made this book
even better than just a
love story was its realistic look at living in New York as
gay firefighters. The author dealt with serious issues like gay
bashing and 9/11 without getting maudlin or overbearing.
This is a must read book."

Hive)
“Rated
5 Gold Crowns and a Recommended Read!
By
a third of the way into this book I already had
that love/hate thing
going on that I relish. I loved the emotional content, the
grip-you-by-the-gut
angst, and the very real and difficult aftermath of being
one who survived a terrible ordeal when others, friends, didn’t…
Every trope was wrapped up in Griff’s gruff longing, and Mr.
Suede’s unique,
fascinating voice and made, if not new, at least
wildly entertaining and
fresh…. Add to all this the
zingingly fast prose,
the raunchy voice, the down and dirty need oozing out of
every thought Griff has, and smeared all over the page in
gritty dialogue and
plain, no-muss language, and all the way through this, I
knew I should have been getting on with my own business, but
I just could not put
this book down.”
(Laurel at
Readers’
Roundtable)
"Four out of four stars!
This isn’t just about sex. It’s about unrequited love; it’s about sexy firemen and how the world stills holds them aloft as heroes after the horrible events of 9/11. It’s about being unsure, pain, fear, tragedy and discovery. But most endearing to me, it’s about friendship, the foundation of a strong relationship. I’m not going to tell you anything else except that you gotta buy it and read it! Guaranteed…" (Stephen Jackson for TLAGay.com)
“Talk about steamy hot men and lots of emotion! You've got it and more in Hot Head. This story revolves a great deal around 9-11 and I've got to say it really adds to the story. The work is written in an exuberant, fast-paced manner. I couldn't put it down once I picked it up. Damon Suede writes a great mix of comedy and heart. I felt like I was right there, practically inside Griff's skin as he dealt with his life and feelings. And sex? Oh my...I had to find a fan and a cool drink... It was so worth it. Damon Suede's writing really shines when Griff and Dante get horizontal. If you want a heartwarming story, filled with lots of heat in all sorts of ways, grab a copy of Hot Head.” (Nymphaea for Whipped Cream Reviews)
Damon Suede’s first novel, Hot
Head is one of those books you will either love or hate…
Why did I love the book? Two words: Griff Muir. He’s
a fascinating,
complex character… one of those characters that you
empathize with from the first page… by page 320, he was my
hero…. New York City
shines, as do Griff and Dante – they are real guys, act
like jerks, curse, make mistakes – and the sex between the
two? Whoa. Mr. Suede
takes their lovemaking to a new level of hotness…
I loved Hot Head and recommend it highly. The two main
protagonists leap off the page and every aspect of their
characterizations felt authentic. Damon Suede
has delivered a page turner of a freshman novel and
if Hot Head was amazing, then I eagerly await his second book.
"FIVE
STARS! A coming-out m/m romance whose heroes are
truly straight, not merely rugged and closeted… I would
guess that the emotional content is more than enough
to melt the hearts of female readers; as a male, I
can state with certainty that the graphic sex scenes
are enough to arouse all but the most doggedly straight men.
… I can recommend this book without hesitation
to both one- and two-handed readers. Couples will enjoy it,
too." (Stanley Ridge for
Wilde Oats)
"96/100 points (highest rating ever on the site), Five stars and recommended read
A powerful, epic, bold romance. Makes you wait for love/sex, but truly delivers. Strong characters…Very erotic. Very emotional. The unrequited love is so wrenching [and the] final union is so earned and worthwhile." (Book Robot Reviews)GROWN MEN quotes:
"5 out of 5! Since this is subtitled HardCell Universe: First Transmission, I am going to assume that we will be seeing additional titles by Mr. Suede that take place in this universe. I certainly hope so...This story of survival, hope, and friendship is more than just a good read. It is worth reading twice...I don’t in general seek out science fiction, but I’m very glad I picked up Damon Suede’s novella Grown Men. He brings his setting and his characters to brilliant life from the very first page, immersing us in the world almost as if we were participants in the storyline…I felt as if I were standing right alongside the characters experiencing their lives as they wrangle eels, count the stars, and dream of the future. Mr. Suede is a talented author, and he has definitely won my admiration. (Bobby D. Whitney for Book Wenches)
"I thoroughly enjoyed Grown Men…. I am not usually much of a science fiction reader but I had no trouble jumping into this story….I loved the slow development of the relationship between Runt and Ox. And I thought the themes of growth and the blending of two lives together were beautifully done. I can't wait for the rest of the series and highly recommend Grown Men!" (Joyfully Jay)
"There’s imagination, then there’s, whoa, IMAGINATION, and Damon Suede seems to be possessed of the second type, the kind where you’re reading along and thinking, now why can’t I do this?...With a generous attention to world building, a briskly paced plot, descriptive language that paints the ideal mental picture of the setting, as well as an introduction to a couple of unlikely yet likeable heroes who will, as this series moves forward, have more to reveal to readers, Grown Men is a weird and wondrous beginning in the HardCell conglomeration." (Lisa for Top2Bottom Reviews)
"Rated 5 Seashells! Mr. Suede
has done an outstanding job of
world-building, yet there are components of the story that
are familiar and make it a comfortable, if very exciting,
read. There is so much more to [this book] than an
outer space adventure or a futuristic escapade. Mr.
Suede enjoys words and uses them creatively. He is
at his wordsmithing best
when he’s able to create a whole new lexicon … With elements of Robinson
Crusoe, GLBT romance, and Survivor all rolled into one…creative
and scorching hot sex… I enjoyed Grown Men
very much and recommend it to readers who enjoy Sci-fi, m/m,
a stranded on a desert island trope, and a serialized
adventure series." (Hazel for
The Reader’s Roundtable)
"This is a science fiction novel in the classic sense, not a space opera… The story draws us into this world immediately and keeps us there with each new discovery. The bits of bio-engineering mixed with practical tech were marvelous…. The Hard Cell universe comes to us fully realized…lovingly detailed…Runt and Ox are real and believable characters, even with Ox’s freakish size. Their interactions are marvelous, the way their relationship grows and evolves without Ox speaking a single word absolutely captivating… a story I enjoyed immensely from the first anxious moments to the final, inventive solution, with characters I hope, very much, to see again!" (Angel Martinez - Off the Beaten Track Reviews)
SEEDY BUSINESS quotes:
"4 1/2 blissful sweet peas! Mr. Suede is famous for his skills as a wordsmith, so instead of a favorite quote, I offer favorite words and phrases: cum-smuggler, man-jam, designer testicles, sperm pirates. There are lots more and they’re all hilarious. A fantastic job of world building…thrilling plot and characters…Mr. Suede has written another winner, and it’s offered as a legitimate, author-approved, free on-line read! This is a no-risk investment other than your time to enjoy the story…Ingenious, erotic, witty, and outrageously funny." (Mrs. Condit Reads Books)

Topics for Interviews & Articles:
A list of topics I can discuss or write about in an entertaining and informed way... as well as potential story angles.
- Entertainment Industry: I've made my living in film and theatre for 20+ years... working in New York, LA and London for production companies of all shapes and sizes, and levels of skullduggery.
- Man's view of M/M and romance fiction: XY chromosomes and practical experience give me a different take on our genre and a nuts-n-bolts grasp of homoerotic intimacy.
- LGBT History: Born within a year of Stonewall, I was raised in its aftermath by an out, political lesbian. So I grew up dealing with LGBT issues almost from the day I was born and have been discussing them with a wide variety of folks, ditto.
- LGBT Youth Issues & Education: I was raised in an LGBT home and also teach writing to gifted kids every week; talking to and about young people (and specifically LGBT youth) has become familiar terrain.
- History of LGBT Literature and Gay Pulps: I am a fervent reader and collector of Gay Lit, high and low, as well as their overlap and interpenetration. My crazy collection of GLBT ephemera stretches back for decades...
- Story mechanics: I've earned my living telling stories for two decades in any number of media, nurturing my long healthy relationship with structure, dialogue, character, idiom, worldbuilding, outlining, revision, project development, blocks, habits, and creative struggles, etc.
- Formula & genre criticism: My academic background and life in the entertainment trenches have given me insights and dexterity with genre and formula... as well as a host of goofy anecdotes and references.
- Professional development for writers: I've been a full time writer for two decades, steering my own career through the shoals of production and publication. I have plenty of in-the-trenches experience with branding, promotion, publicity, representation, networking, negotiation, and the process of bringing a successful product to market.
- City Mouse vs. Country Mouse: I grew up in Texas/Deep South and live in Manhattan/Urban East Coast so my interests and access straddle all kinds of divides.
